Sikaflex®-268 is an adhesive system specifically designed for the railway industry. It is suitable for assembly and sealing applications; its exceptional resistance to weathering and a wide variety of detergents makes it an ideal solution for use in external joints in the railway sector.
Sikaflex®-268 is compatible with Sika's bonding process without the black primer.
Sikaflex®-268 can be accelerated with Sika's Booster and PowerCure systems.

Surface preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from any traces of grease, oil, and dust. The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for a lasting bond. All pre-treatment stages must be confirmed by preliminary tests on original supports, taking into account the specific conditions of the assembly process.
Application
Sikaflex®-268 can be processed between 5 °C and 40 °C (climate and product) but changes in reactivity and application properties must be considered. The optimal temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C. An increase in viscosity at low temperature is considered. For easy application, condition the adhesive to room temperature before use. To ensure a uniform thickness of the joint line, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in the form of a triangular bead.
Finishing
Finishes must be carried out within the open time of the adhesive. The use of Sika® Tooling Agent N is recommended. Other finishing agents must be tested for suitability and compatibility.
Removal
Uncured Sikaflex®-268 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin must be washed immediately with wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
