Sikaflex ® -252 is a one-component thixotropic polyurethane adhesive with a pasty consistency that hardens by reacting with atmospheric moisture, forming a durable elastomer. The production processes of Sikaflex ® -252 are defined in a certified Quality Assurance System in accordance with ISO 9001 / 14001 standards.
Sikaflex ® -252 is suitable for the construction of structural joints capable of withstanding dynamic stresses. Suitable substrates include wood, metals, particularly aluminum (including anodized components), steel sheets (including phosphated, chromated, or galvanized sheets), metal primers and painting systems (two-component systems), ceramic and plastic materials. Request information from the manufacturer before use on plastics subject to stress-cracking. This product is intended for use by professional users. It is recommended to carry out preliminary checks with the specific substrates and application conditions to ensure perfect adhesion and compatibility of the materials.
The bonding surface must be clean, dry, free of oils, greases, and impurities. The surface pre-treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for durable bonding. For indications regarding the preliminary treatment of the surface, consult the current valid Sika® primer Table. The information contained therein is based on experience and must always be verified by conducting tests with materials under real conditions.
Application:
Sikaflex®-252 can be worked between 10 °C and 35 °C (environment and product), taking into account variations in reactivity and application properties. The optimal temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
Consider the increase in viscosity at low temperatures. For easier processing, bring the product to room temperature. Apply Sikaflex®-252 with a suitable cartridge gun or sausage packs or pumping equipment. In hot and humid weather conditions, the skin time is significantly shortened. Always press the elements within the skin time. Once the skin is formed, do not press anymore.
Smoothing and finishing:
Perform smoothing within the adhesive skin time. For smoothing, it is recommended to use Sika® Tooling Agent N. Other finishing agents should be tested for suitability.
Removal:
Unhardened Sikaflex®-252 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. The hardened material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and skin should be washed immediately using hand cleaning wipes (e.g. Sika® Cleaner-350H) or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
