Mapesil AC is an acetoxy-curing silicone sealant suitable for sealing glass, ceramic, and anodized aluminum; after treatment with a primer.

Mapesil AC is used for:

· Seal expansion joints subject to movements of ±25% of the initial size, according to EN 15651 standard.

· To form a perfectly elastic gasket between structural elements in the construction, mechanical, naval, automotive, industrial sectors, etc.

Preparation and sizing of the joint All surfaces to be sealed must be dry, solid, free of dust and loose parts, and free of oils, greases, waxes, old paints, and rust. To allow the sealant to perform its function, it must be able to stretch and compress freely.
During application, it is therefore necessary that:
· it adheres only to the lateral surfaces of the joint and not to the bottom;
· the joint is sized so that the expected continuous elongation does not exceed 25% of the initial width (calculated at +20°C);
· for joint widths up to 10 mm, the thickness must be equal to the width; for widths between 11 and 20 mm, the thickness must always be 10 mm; for larger widths, the thickness must be half the width.
To limit the depth and prevent Mapesil AC from adhering to the bottom of the joint, special preformed cords made of expanded polyethylene Mapefoam can be used.
