Sika® Primer-210 is a colorless and slightly yellow solvent-based primer that reacts with moisture and forms a thin layer. This layer acts as a link between substrates and adhesives. Sika® Primer-210 is specifically formulated for the treatment of surfaces to be bonded before the application of Sika one-component polyurethanes.
APPLICATION FIELDS
Sika® Primer-210 is used to improve adhesion on many metals such as aluminum, steel, and non-ferrous metals. This primer may also be used to enhance the adhesion of Sikasil® sealants and adhesives. Consult the manufacturer and conduct tests on the original substrates before using Sika® Primer-210 on materials subject to stress cracking. This product is suitable only for experienced professional users. To ensure adhesion and compatibility of materials, testing with substrates under real conditions is necessary.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, dust, and contaminants. Adhesion to substrates can be improved by adding and/or combining pretreatment processes such as abrasion, cleaning, and activation before applying the primer.
Application:
Apply a thin but covering layer of Sika® Primer-210 using a brush, felt, clean cloth that does not fray, or sponge. Sika® Primer-210 exhibits thermoplastic behavior up to 3 days after application, so it is necessary to avoid high temperatures or initial stresses on the surface to be bonded. The ideal application and surface temperature is between 15 °C and 25 °C. Sika® Primer-210 should be applied only once. Care must be taken to ensure that this single application provides a sufficiently dense coverage. Consumption and application method depend on the specific nature of the substrates. Seal the container tightly immediately after each use.
