Mapei Planitop Rasa & Ripara R4 is a structural thixotropic cementitious mortar of class R4, fiber-reinforced, rapid-setting and shrinkage-compensated, specifically for the restoration and levelling of concrete.
It is a professional 2-in-1 solution that allows both repair work and the subsequent levelling of concrete surfaces to be carried out with a single product.
It can be applied in a single coat with thicknesses from 3 to 40 mm, making it particularly suitable for rapid structural restoration work.

Classification
Planitop Rasa & Ripara R4 is classified as:
EN 1504-3 – Structural mortar of class R4
and also complies with the requirements set out in:
EN 1504-2 – Coating (C), MC and IR principles
The R4 classification identifies a mortar intended for the structural restoration of concrete with high mechanical performance.
The substrate must be solid, sound, and carefully prepared.
Completely remove:
Deteriorated or poorly bonded concrete
Unsound areas
Dust
Oils
Grease
Paints
Any substances that may compromise adhesion
The concrete surface must be adequately roughened.
Before applying the mortar, saturate the substrate with water, removing any excess water present on the surface.
Mix preparation
For each 25 kg bag, use approximately:
4.1-4.4 litres of water
corresponding to about 16.5-17.5% water by weight of the product.
Pour the required amount of clean water into a container and gradually add Planitop Rasa & Ripara R4.
Mix thoroughly until a homogeneous, lump-free mix with a thixotropic consistency is obtained.
Working time
At around +20°C, the pot life is:
about 15 minutes
To extend the working time, Mapei Mapetard ES can be used.
Adding one 0.25 kg bottle of Mapetard ES for each 25 kg bag extends the working time by approximately another 15-20 minutes.
In this case, the mixing water quantity must be reduced by about 0.2-0.3 litres.
Application
Apply Planitop Rasa & Ripara R4 using:

The product can be applied in a single coat with thicknesses ranging from:
minimum 3 mm – maximum 40 mm
Its special thixotropic consistency also allows application on vertical surfaces.
Application temperature
Apply at temperatures between:
+5°C and +35°C
Setting
At +20°C:
Pot life: about 15 minutes
End of setting: about 25 minutes
Higher temperatures reduce working and setting times, while lower temperatures increase them.
Consumption
Indicative consumption:
about 17 kg/m² for every cm of thickness
As a guide, one 25 kg bag therefore allows approximately 1.47 m² at 1 cm thickness.
Actual yield may vary depending on the characteristics and irregularity of the substrate.

Tool cleaning
When the mortar is still fresh, tools can be cleaned with water.
After hardening, removal can only be carried out mechanically.

Contaminated residues and packaging must be handled in compliance with current regulations and as indicated in the Mapei Safety Data Sheet.
