Mapei Malech Acrylic Fixative and Primer for Interior and Exterior Walls 2 - 10 Kg

Mapei Malech is a water-based acrylic primer, smoothing and adhesion-promoting, specifically designed to prepare wall surfaces before applying subsequent paints and finishes.

Formulated with micronized acrylic resins in aqueous dispersion, it penetrates deep into the substrate, helping to even out absorption, consolidate surface dust, and improve finish adhesion.

It is particularly suitable as an fixative and primer for interior and exterior walls, on surfaces such as plaster, concrete, repairs with cement mortars, and old paints that are slightly chalking.

Malech is also odourless and solvent-free, a feature that makes it suitable for use even in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.

Malech can also be used in the Aquaflex System cycle for the permanent encapsulation of asbestos cement, as an anchoring base for the subsequent layers of Aquaflex.

Preparation of the substrate

New surfaces or any patches made with restoration mortars must be fully cured, perfectly clean, sound, and dry.

Remove:

Dust
Oils and greases
Poorly adhering parts
Loose material

Seal any cracks, repair degraded areas, and correct porosity or irregularities in the substrate before application.

Do not apply Malech on wet or metal surfaces.

Preparation and dilution

Stir Malech thoroughly before use.

Indoor application

Dilute with water according to the absorbency of the substrate.

As a guideline:

More absorbent substrates: Malech/water 1:1
Less absorbent substrates: Malech/water 1:2

Correct dilution is important to prevent the primer from glazing on less absorbent surfaces.

Outdoor application

On porous and highly absorbent substrates, Malech can be used as is.

On other substrates, it can be diluted with water up to a maximum of 50%, depending on the degree of absorbency.

Application

Apply Malech evenly by means of:

Brush
Roller
Spray

Protect the surface from driving rain for at least 12 hours after application.

Waiting time

Before applying the next coat of paint or finish, wait:

12-24 hours

The time may vary depending on temperature and ambient humidity.

Proceed with overcoating only when the substrate is completely dry.

Application temperature

Apply at a temperature between:

+5°C and +35°C

Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C.

Consumption

Indicative consumption:

0,10-0,15 kg/m²

Actual consumption may vary depending on the porosity and absorbency of the substrate.

As a guideline, 1 kg of product can treat approximately 6,7-10 m², before considering any dilution required for the substrate.

Brushes, rollers, and equipment used for spray application can be cleaned with water before the product dries.

Warnings
Do not use on metal surfaces
Do not apply on wet surfaces

The substrate must be solid, clean, sound, and dry
Adjust dilution to the absorbency of the substrate
Outdoors, protect from driving rain for at least 12 hours

Do not release the product or residues into the environment.

Malech residues and contaminated packaging must be handled in compliance with current regulations and according to the instructions provided in the Mapei Safety Data Sheet.

For proper disposal of the packaging, check the environmental labelling on the package and follow the regulations of your local municipality or waste management provider.
