SikaForce®-420 L45 is a two-component high viscosity polyurethane bonding adhesive used with SikaForce®-010 component B. It can be used with SikaForce®-050 component B, if higher viscosity is required.
BENEFITS
▪ Thixotropic
▪ IMO compliance acc. to DNV-GL
(when used with SikaForce®-050)
▪ Ability to fill interstices
▪ Solvent free
FIELD OF APPLICATION
SikaForce®-420 L45 is mainly used for the assembly of profiles and sandwich panels eg. glass fiber reinforced plastic, wood, metal, ceramic materials and pretreated plastics.
This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions must be performed, ensuring adhesion and material compatibility.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, free of oils, fats, and impurities.
Depending on the surface and type of material, after cleaning, a mechanical or chemical pretreatment may be necessary. The type of pretreatment should be determined through preliminary tests.
Application:
Define the quantity and position of the adhesive so that after joining the elements, the intended space is sufficiently filled. The appropriate amount of adhesive and positioning should be determined through tests.
The procedure for manual application is as follows: thoroughly stir component A to avoid sediment or separation, being careful not to mix too vigorously as this could introduce air into the product. Add component B in the specified ratio and mix thoroughly, ensuring a homogeneous mixture.
Apply the product before reaching half of the working time and join the parts within the open time. Note: by mixing larger quantities of product, the exothermic reaction can significantly reduce the working time and open time!
For dual cartridge systems, use the static mixer MFHX 08-24T.
For advice on selecting and setting up an appropriate processing system, contact the System Engineering department of Sika Industry.
Pressing:
Apply sufficient force to achieve contact without voids between the substrates and the adhesive.
The specific pressure depends on the material core and should be determined through tests.
The pressure should always be lower than the core's compression strength.
Once the pressing process has started, do not reduce the pressure before the pressing time has elapsed.
Removal:
Unhardened SikaForce®-420 L45 can be removed from tools and equipment with SikaForce®-096 Cleaner (formerly SikaForce®-7260 Cleaner). Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
Hands and skin should be washed immediately using hand cleaning wipes (e.g. Sika® Cleaner-350H) or suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Store SikaForce®-420 L45 in a dry place at temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C. Do not expose to direct sunlight. Protect from freezing.
After opening the packaging, protect the contents from moisture.
The minimum allowable temperature during transport is -20 °C for a maximum period of 7 days.
