Sikaflex-290 DC PROO is a single-component polyurethane sealant, specifically formulated for caulking of joints in the traditional wooden cladding of bridges in the nautical sector. It has excellent weather resistance and, therefore, is suitable for open joints highly exposed to maritime environments. The sealing compound cures to form a flexible elastomer that allows for a quick and easy sanding process. Sikaflex-290 DC PRO meets the standards established by International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Uses:
Sikaflex-290 DC PRO is designed for caulking joints in traditional wood deck cladding for commercial boats, yachts and shipbuilding. This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. To ensure material adhesion and compatibility, testing with substrates in real-world conditions is necessary.
Application:
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil and dust. On wood, the use of a suitable primer is mandatory, such as Sika Primer-290 DC. Further surface treatments depend on the specific nature of the substrates, such as for the perimeter sealing of the bridge. However, all recommendations must be determined by preliminary testing..
To obtain satisfactory results the adhesive must be applied with suitable equipment such as pumping systems, dosing units or piston application guns. Sikaflex-290 DC PRO can be processed between 5 C and 35 C but variations in reactivity and application properties must be taken into account. The optimal process temperature (substrate, environment and product) is between 15 C and 25 C.5 °C.
