Thixotropic sealant for buses, trucks and trailers
Sikaflex-212 FCC it is a one-component sealant with a pasty consistency which hardens on exposure to atmospheric humidity. This product is designed for internal sealing applications.
- Adheres well to a wide variety of substrates
- It can be painted
- Low odor emission
ADVANTAGES:
- Adheres well to a wide variety of substrates
- It can be painted
- Low odor emission
- It can be sanded
USES:
Sikaflex-212 FC is a universal sealant suitable for most interior sealing applications in the commercial vehicle construction sector. The product has excellent sealing properties and adheres well to most materials commonly used in the commercial vehicle industry, e.g. metals, plastics, wood and glass. Sikaflex-212 FC adheres to itself, can be sanded and painted when fully cured.o.
Seek manufacturer advice and test original substrates before using Sikaflex-212 FC on materials subject to stress cracking..
This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. To ensure adhesion and material compatibility, tests with substrates under real conditions should be performed.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil and dust.
Surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for a lasting bond. Suggestions for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika Pre-Treatment Chart. It must be considered that these suggestions are based on experience and must in any case be verified with tests on original supportsi
APPLICATION:
Sikaflex-212 FC can be processed between 5 C and 35 C but variations in reactivity and application properties must be taken into consideration. The optimal temperature for substrates and sealant is between 15 C and 25 C.5 °C.
Sikaflex-212 FC can be processed with manual, pneumatic or electric piston guns, as well as with pumping equipment. For advice on how to select and set up a suitable pump system, contact the System Engineering Department of Sika Industry..
OVERPAINTING:
Sikaflex-212 FC can be painted before and after the skin formation time. If the painting process takes place after the sealant has formed a skin, the adhesion could be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika Aktivator-100 or Sika Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (>80C), best performance is obtained by first allowing the sealant to fully cure. All paints must be tested by carrying out preliminary trials under production conditions.one.
The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants. This could cause the paint to crack in the joint area
The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for durable bonding. Suggestions for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika® Pre-treatment Table. It should be noted that these suggestions are based on experience and should be verified with tests on original substrates.
APPLICATION:
Sikaflex®-212 FC can be worked with between 5 °C and 35 °C, but variations in reactivity and application properties must be taken into account. The optimal temperature for substrates and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
Sikaflex®-212 FC can be worked with manual, pneumatic, or electric piston guns, as well as with pumping equipment. For advice on selecting and setting up an appropriate pumping system, contact Sika Industry's System Engineering Department.
PAINTING:
Sikaflex®-212 FC can be painted before and after skin formation time. If the painting process occurs after the sealant has formed a skin, adhesion could be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika® Aktivator-100 or Sika® Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (> 80 °C), the best performance is achieved by allowing the sealant to fully polymerize first. All paints should be tested by conducting preliminary tests under production conditions.
The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants. This could cause the paint to break in the joint area.
