Sikaflex® -552 AT is a high performance, elastic, single component adhesive with good filling capabilities which cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture to form a strong elastomer. Sikaflex® -552 AT is based on Sika's silane terminated polymer technology and does not contain isocyanates. The production processes of Sikaflex® -552 AT are defined in a Quality Assurance System certified in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.

Jobs
Sikaflex® -552 AT is suitable for making structural joints capable of withstanding dynamic stresses. Sikaflex® -552 AT adheres well to all materials commonly used in the commercial vehicle industry, such as primed and painted metals, metals, plastics and painted plastics. Ask the manufacturer for information before using on transparent or pigmented materials subject to stress cracking phenomena. This product is intended for use by professional users. Preliminary checks are recommended with specific substrates and application conditions to ensure perfect adhesion and material compatibility
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust.
The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for durable bonding. Suggestions for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika® Pre-treatment Table.
It should be noted that these suggestions are based on experience and should still be verified with tests on original substrates.
Application:
Sikaflex®-552 AT can be worked between 5°C and 40°C, but variations in reactivity and application properties must be taken into account. The optimal temperature for substrates and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.
Consider the increase in viscosity at low temperatures. For easy application, condition the adhesive to room temperature before use.
To ensure a uniform thickness of the bonding line, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in the form of a triangular bead. Sikaflex®-552 AT can be worked with manual, pneumatic, or electric piston guns, as well as with pumping equipment.
The open time is significantly shorter in hot and humid climates. Parts must always be installed within the open time.
Never install glass after the adhesive has skinned over.
Tooling and finishing:
Tooling and finishing must be done within the skin formation time of the adhesive. The use of Sika® Tooling Agent N is recommended. Other finishing agents should be tested for suitability and compatibility before use.
Removal:
Unhardened Sikaflex®-552 AT can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once hardened, the material can only be mechanically removed.
Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using hand cleaning wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H, or suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
Do not use solvents on the skin!
Painting over:
Sikaflex®-552 AT can be optimally painted within the skin formation time. If the painting process occurs after the formation of the surface layer, adhesion could be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika® Aktivator-100 or Sika® Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (> 80°C), the best performance is achieved by allowing the sealant to fully cure first. All paints should be tested by conducting preliminary tests under the same production conditions.
The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants. This could lead to paint cracking in the joint area.
Recycle only if perfectly clean and empty or recycle at specific ecological centers.
