Jobs
Sikaflex-295 UV was developed specifically for the marine industry, where it is used to bond and seal plastic glazing materials in boats and ships. Due to its excellent weather resistance, this product can also be used to seal joints in exposed areas. Suitable substrates are aluminum (polished or anodized), fiberglass (polyester resin), stainless steel, wood, two-component coatings and plastic glazing materials (PC, PMMA). Seek manufacturer's advice and test original substrates before using Sikaflex-295 UV on materials subject to stress cracking. This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. Testing with real-world substrates and conditions must be performed to ensure material adhesion and compatibility. Disposal:

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from any traces of grease, oil, dust, and contaminants. The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is essential for a lasting bond. Surface preparation tips can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika® pretreatment table. Please note that these tips are based on experience and must always be verified through tests on original substrates.
Application:
Sikaflex®-295 UV can be extruded between 10 °C and 35 °C (climate and product), but changes in reactivity and application properties should be considered. The optimal temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C. Viscosity will increase at low temperatures. For easy application, condition the adhesive at room temperature before use. To ensure a uniform joint line thickness, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in the form of a triangular bead.
Sikaflex®-295 UV can be extruded with manual, pneumatic, or electric piston guns, as well as pump equipment. Open time is significantly shorter in hot and humid climates. Parts must always be installed within the open time. Never join adhesive parts if the adhesive has skinned over.
Tooling and finishing:
Tooling and finishing must be done within the product's skin time. Sika® Tooling Agent N is recommended. Other finishing agents should be tested for suitability and compatibility before use.
Removal:
Uncured Sikaflex®-295 UV can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately with Sika® Cleaner-350H cleaning towels or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
Do not use solvents on the skin!
Painting:
Sikaflex®-295 UV can be painted before and after skin formation. If the painting process takes place after the sealant has skinned over, adhesion may be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika® Aktivator-100 or Sika® Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (> 80 °C), the best performance is achieved by allowing the sealant to fully cure first. All paints should be tested by conducting preliminary tests under production conditions. The elasticity of paints is generally lower than that of sealants, which may cause paint breakage in the joint area.
